You’ll work closely with leaders, employees, union representatives, and external partners to navigate complex people matters with care and professionalism. With one direct report, you’ll balance strategic guidance with day-to-day HR delivery, helping create a respectful, inclusive, and well-supported workplace.

What’s In It for You

This role offers broad exposure to labour relations, employee relations, HR programs, health and safety, benefits, and organizational initiatives within a unionized non-profit setting.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll lead core HR processes, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, attendance management, and offboarding.
• You’ll advise leaders on employee relations, collective agreement interpretation, management rights, and HR policies.
• You’ll investigate workplace complaints and grievances, prepare responses, facilitate conflict resolution, and support collective bargaining.
• You’ll oversee HR programs and systems, benefits administration, WSIB matters, return-to-work plans, and departmental SOPs.
• You’ll champion an inclusive workplace culture through employee engagement, training, talent development, and organizational effectiveness initiatives.
• You’ll support health and safety committees and coordinate required employee training.

Skills and Qualifications
• 3+ years of progressive HR experience with a related university degree, or 5+ years with a related college diploma.
• Demonstrated HR and labour relations experience within a unionized environment is required.
• Experience in a non-profit, healthcare, government, or similar complex, people-focused environment is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Ontario’s ESA, OLRA, OHSA, WSIA, Human Rights Code, and Pay Equity Act.
• CHRP designation is considered an asset.
