Join Scotiabank's Commercial Agriculture Banking team as a Credit Solutions Associate (CSA). In this role, you will be a key partner to Client Relationship Managers, providing end-to-end credit underwriting and portfolio management support for Agriculture clients across Canada.

 

You will help deliver tailored financial solutions, support credit decision-making, and contribute to an exceptional client experience while developing your expertise in commercial lending, risk management, and relationship banking.

 

How You Will Make an Impact:

 

Credit Analysis and Underwriting

  • Conduct financial analysis and credit assessments for new and existing commercial agriculture clients.
  • Analyze financial statements, projections, borrowing bases, and other supporting documentation.
  • Identify risks, opportunities, and trends, and prepare recommendations to support sound credit decisions.
  • Assist in structuring tailored financing solutions that meet client needs.

 

Client and Portfolio Support

  • Partner closely with Client Relationship Managers to support a portfolio of borrowing and non-borrowing clients.
  • Collect and review financial information, monitor portfolio performance, and identify potential signs of deterioration.
  • Help address client inquiries and resolve escalated issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support onboarding, Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and ongoing client maintenance activities.

 

Fulfillment and Funding

  • Coordinate with internal business partners to ensure efficient execution of approved credit facilities.
  • Assist with completion of funding requirements and conditions precedent.
  • Ensure a seamless experience throughout the credit fulfillment process.

 

Risk Management and Compliance

  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and risk management guidelines.
  • Ensure client documentation is accurate, complete, and properly maintained.
  • Support the Bank's risk culture through sound judgment and proactive portfolio monitoring.

 

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance the client experience.
  • Participate in training and development activities to strengthen credit and banking expertise.
  • Contribute to an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing team environment.

 

What You Will Bring to the Team:

 

  • Strong understanding of financial statements, credit analysis, and commercial lending principles.
  • Knowledge of credit structures, risk management practices, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong client service mindset with excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.

 

Must-Have

  • College or University degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Agriculture Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and assessing credit risk.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking products, services, and processes.
  • Familiarity with KYC, AML, onboarding, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in Commercial Banking, Credit Adjudication, Agriculture Banking, or Financial Services.
  • Knowledge of Commercial Banking systems and platforms such as Salesforce, Intralink, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Understanding of Agriculture industry operations and financial drivers.
  • Experience working with cross-functional banking partners.
