Summary:

Calian is seeking Physician Assistants to support the First Responders Health Program by providing comprehensive occupational health assessments for firefighters and first responders. The Physician Assistant performs physical examinations, occupational health assessments, cardiovascular and cancer risk evaluations, diagnostic review, referral coordination, and preventative healthcare planning while working collaboratively with physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses, and laboratory professionals.

Responsibilities

• Review participant intake documentation and occupational history.
• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and physical examinations.
• Evaluate occupational exposures and associated health risks.
• Complete cardiovascular risk assessments.
• Support occupational cancer surveillance and preventative screening.
• Review laboratory, ECG, spirometry, imaging, and specialist reports.
• Develop individualized care plans and health recommendations.
• Coordinate referrals to physicians and specialists.
• Complete participant reports and clinical documentation.
• Maintain compliance with clinical protocols, medical directives, and privacy standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure continuity of care.

Qualifications

Required

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Eligible to practice in Ontario
• Current professional liability insurance
• Minimum two years of clinical experience
• Strong physical assessment and clinical reasoning skills
• Experience using electronic health records

• Preventive medicine
• Emergency medicine
• Public health
• Cardiovascular screening experience
• Knowledge of Ontario screening programs and referral pathways

Additional Requirements

• Ability to travel to clinic locations throughout Ontario.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Compensation:

$90.00 – $110.00 per hour
