About the Opportunity
Were hiring a Payroll Supervisor to join a public sector organization supporting large-scale payroll and expense operations across Ontario. This is an opportunity to combine hands-on Canadian payroll expertise with people leadership, process improvement, and systems-focused work in an environment where accuracy, readiness, and service are critical.
Youll lead a small payroll team during regular operations while helping build the processes, documentation, and structure needed to scale significantly during peak periods. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys improving how work gets done, coaching others, and staying close to the technical details of payroll.

Your Responsibilities
Youll supervise and coach a payroll team, managing day-to-day workloads, priorities, performance, and service delivery
Youll oversee full-cycle Canadian payroll, including year-end processing, T4s, T4As, ROEs, reconciliations, and adjustments
Youll review and approve employee expenses and support accurate, timely reimbursement processes
Youll lead payroll process and systems improvements, including the creation of SOPs, documentation, and scalable workflows
Youll support internal and external audits, investigate complex payroll issues, and ensure legislative compliance
Youll build strong relationships across Finance, HR, operations, management, and senior leadership
Skills and Qualifications
5+ years of full-cycle Canadian payroll experience, including high-volume payroll environments
5+ years of people management or payroll team lead experience
Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, year-end requirements, T4s, T4As, and ROEs
Proven experience improving payroll systems, processes, workflows, and documentation
Experience supporting internal and external audits and employee expense processing
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including working with large datasets and reconciliations
Dayforce experience is highly desirable, while D365 experience is considered an asset
