We are seeking a highly analytical and detail‑oriented Manager to join our Real Estate Secured Lending (RESL) Credit Strategy & Policy Analytics team within Global Risk Management. In this role, you will design, implement, and monitor credit strategies, and provide analytical support for credit policies aimed at optimizing risk‑adjusted returns and supporting Canadian Banking’s strategic priorities.

 

You will leverage data-driven insights, collaborate closely with risk technology and business partners, and play a key role in shaping adjudication strategies, portfolio health, and policy alignment with the Bank’s Risk Appetite Framework.

 

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

Strategy Development

  • Develop credit risk origination strategies for RESL products (Mortgage, HELOC), supporting adjudication decisions and credit limit setting.
  • Develop account management strategies for HELOC product.
  • Use data-driven analytics to uncover portfolio insights and identify opportunities for strategy enhancements.
  • Support the full lifecycle of strategy development—from hypothesis generation to champion/challenger testing to forecasting financial impacts.
  • Ensure strategy design adheres to regulatory, governance, and internal risk management requirements.

 

 Credit Strategy Implementation

  • Translate strategy and policy changes into clear, detailed technical requirements.
  • Implement strategies in origination system (FICO DM) and / or account management system (TRIAD)
  • Collaborate with risk technology partners to validate coding accuracy and run statistical testing to ensure expected outcomes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues in implementation and recommend effective solutions.
  • Conduct post‑implementation validation to confirm strategy performance in production.

 

Strategy Monitoring

  • Maintain and enhance monitoring frameworks to evaluate strategy performance and alignment with targets.
  • Analyze emerging trends, identify early signs of portfolio stress, and assess potential impacts on provisioning (PCL) as vintages mature.
  • Evaluate strategy effectiveness and propose innovative enhancements to optimize risk/return and competitiveness.

 

Analytics Support for Credit Policies

  • Perform data‑driven analysis to support credit policy development and maintenance.
  • Ensure policies align with risk appetite and comply with OSFI regulatory requirements.

 

Support Business Line Initiatives & Projects

  • Provide risk input for new product launches, channel changes, acquisition frameworks, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure business strategies remain within Risk Appetite Framework boundaries.
  • Represent Risk in cross‑functional working groups and communicate risk insights clearly to stakeholders across operations, product, collections, technology, and governance.

 

 

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:

 

  • 1–3 years of experience in credit lending, risk management, or related analytical/strategy roles.
  • Strong logical thinking and a solid foundation in credit principles.
  • Technical proficiency with programming or database tools such as SAS, SQL, Python, R, or Hadoop.
  • Experience with decisioning or account management systems (e.g., FICO DM, TRIAD, TSYS) is considered an asset.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage and interpret complex business requirements.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, with the ability to translate complex analytical concepts for diverse stakeholders.
  • A collaborative, growth‑oriented mindset with a desire to learn, coach, and partner across cross‑functional teams.
  • Self‑driven, organized, and comfortable with ambiguity, demonstrating strong judgment and problem‑solving skills.
  • University degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) OR Master’s degree in business, economics, statistics, mathematics, management sciences, or analytics.
