The Ministry of Primary and Preventative Health Services is building a more resilient and sustainable health care system that can support Albertans getting care when and where they need it, while responding to system-wide health challenges, improving health outcomes, and maintaining fiscal responsibility.
The Advisory Councils Secretariat supports the operations of 14 regional advisory councils across the province. The councils are made up of members of the public who live in the region they represent. Their role is to provide input and advice on how to improve health care in their region.
The Manager leads a team responsible for council operations, stakeholder engagement, governance and administrative support. The position oversees planning and delivery of council meetings, engagement activities and recruitment initiatives while ensuring effective management of council processes, resources and operational priorities. The Manager provides leadership and direction on complex issues, supports collaboration across government and the health system, and ensures the consistent delivery of high-quality Secretariat services.

Minimum Recruitment Standards
University graduation in a field related to Community Engagement, Communications, Public Policy, Public Administration, Social Sciences, Business, or Public Health supplemented by four years related experience.

Agility: Works in a changing environment and takes initiative to change. The Manager must be able to excel while working in a fast paced environment, adjust to changes and remain optimistic and calm, and have a strong ability to shift priorities as required to ensure projects are complete within timelines.
Develop Networks: Leverages relationships to build input and perspective; and build new relationships with internal and external stakeholders to meet the Secretariat mandate.
Systems Thinking: Takes a long-term view towards organization’s objectives and how to achieve them. The Manager must have a broader understanding of health care priorities, and emerging local issues and analyzes connections to ensure successful operations of the councils.
Hours of work are 08:15 AM to 04:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Full-time permanent position working 36.25 hours per week in Calgary or Edmonton
