Agilus by Synergie is recruiting for a Completions Engineer in the Oil and Gas Sector in Calgary, Alberta.
Our client is seeking a SAGD Completions Engineer to design and execute thermal well completion programs across a growing heavy oil portfolio. This role focuses on driving well performance, standardizing completion designs, optimizing costs, and supporting safe, reliable SAGD operations in a collaborative, high-accountability environment.

A typical day:
Design SAGD producer and injector completion systems focused on performance and cost efficiency
Select and optimize sand control technologies including slotted liners, wire-wrapped screens, and ICDs
Develop standardized completion designs to improve consistency and reduce costs
Lead planning and execution of completion programs, procedures, and cost estimates
Coordinate with contractors and service providers to ensure safe, efficient execution
Analyze production and injection data to optimize well performance and steam conformance
Conduct failure investigations and incorporate lessons learned into future designs
Manage AFE budgets and identify opportunities to improve capital efficiency and value creation
Successful candidates will have:
Bachelor's degree in Petroleum, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline
5+ years of completions engineering experience in SAGD or thermal heavy oil operations
Experience designing and executing horizontal well completions
Strong understanding of sand control systems, artificial lift, and thermal well integrity
Experience with WellView, PipeSim, Prosper, or similar industry software
Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills
Knowledge of AER regulations and thermal development requirements
Field experience supporting completions operations is considered a strong asset
