Job Description:
The primary responsibility of this role will be to provide vision and roadmap to multi-year sales and share growth, deliver annual business targets, and establish and grow a long-term strategic relationship with Walmart. This will be done through leading, developing and inspiring a team of sales professionals to grow into Mars leaders and technical experts in their field.
As a strong business leader, the incumbent develops strategic relationships in a manner that provides mutual value to Mars Petcare Canada and its customers, as well as a long-term competitive advantage for Mars Petcare.
As a member of the Sales Leadership team, the incumbent contributes to the development and implementation of the overall sales strategy for the Canadian pet segment, with high visibility and leadership within the Pet Sales Leadership Team.
The Walmart Director wears an enterprise hat and will create collaborative cross-functional relationships with Marketing, Strategy, Customer Excellence, S&F, Demand, Supply and P&O to ensure delivery of the annual and strategic plans.
Bachelor's degree required, preferably a BA/BS in Marketing or Business Administration, Sales or related fields.
MBA or other graduate degree is an asset.
Minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience in a top CPG company at a Director level, having to influence senior stakeholders across multiple groups in Canada.
At least 5 years of line management experience is required.
Direct experience leading major National Accounts in a leadership capacity.
Progressive sales & cross-functional demand experience in established and agile organizations.
Demonstrated ability to “lead from the front” without being overly dependent on process or direction.
A proven track record of success in complex and varied assignments, with preference for experience with large customers.
Demonstrated understanding of consumer insights and category management principles.
Demonstrated understanding and management of large, complex business customers/channels.
Proven success in building & leading teams to drive customer & category growth.
Strong financial acumen, with an ability to understand the short & long term implications of company & customer financials & trade.
In depth knowledge and experience of account management, business planning and forecasting.
