Agilus is recruiting for a Project Engineer in the Oil and Gas Sector in Calgary, Alberta.
The role manages multidisciplinary engineering contractor teams through pre FEED, FEED, and detailed engineering phases, coordinates technical reviews including HAZIDs, HAZOPs, model reviews, and constructability reviews, and governs procurement from quotation through technical bid evaluation and vendor document review.

$75.00 - $100.00 hourly
Pay Rate: T4:80$ to 90$, Pay Rate IC:90$ to 100$/HR
12 Months of contract position
Travel expenses may be incurred. Occasional trips to CL/FC/Sunrise/Lloyd.
Site visits vary depending on project from 3-6 times/year to 1-2 times/month.
A typical day:
The Project Engineer serves as a key technical integrator across process, piping, instrumentation, electrical, civil/structural, and commissioning disciplines, and actively manages scope change, risk registers, earned value, and project controls in alignment with stage gate governance structure.
Responsible to progress facility debottleneck, expansion, regulatory, or innovation projects through stage gates ensuring quality business plans, safety mitigations, scope definitions, cost estimates and stage workplans
Responsible to hand over a quality project to the next owner in the value chain
Build constructive relationships with Business, Reservoir Management, Operations, Process Engineering, Innovation and discipline representatives to make critical value add decisions.
Engage with enabling teams to ensure regulatory compliance, community consultation/business opportunity and responsible environmental development.
Manage multiple, simultaneous projects with competing priorities, sequencing all work correctly to ensure smooth flow.
Good and clear planning of deliverables amongst both internal teams and with third party engineering, Work with Project Controls to develop project cost estimates, forecast costs and manage project budgets.
Build relationships with integrated Construction and Commissioning Teams via site trips to seek their guidance, Continually identify cost and schedule reduction initiatives in all aspects of project execution for Projects – design & engineering, procurement & contracting, construction, commissioning and start-up, Promote safety values.
Successful candidates will have:
Licensed Professional Engineer registered with APEGA.
Minimum of 10-15 years of experience working on SAGD facility projects, refinery/upgrader projects or conventional oil & gas facility projects.
Proven track record of successful project delivery, holding team members accountable and experience in various project types and sizes.
Previous field-based experience, Experience in managing multidisciplinary project teams.
Well-developed leadership, personal relations and communications skills, Ability to foster collaborative work environment and relationships.
Extensive knowledge and familiarity with applicable ASME codes and standards for design, fabrication and construction of oil & gas facility projects, Good understanding of project controls systems and tools
