Contract Project Engineer – Major Facilities & Capital Projects
Agilus is recruiting for a Contract Project Engineer in the Energy, Oil and Gas in Calgary, Alberta.
The Contract Project Engineer is a senior technical contributor accountable for the end-to-end delivery of major facility capital projects. This role leads rigorous project definition and execution across stage-gate governance, integrating multidisciplinary engineering, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver safe, high-quality, cost-effective facilities from opportunity identification through turnover.

$88.00 - $120.00 hourly

A typical day:
Progress facility projects through stage-gate governance with robust business plans
Develop stage workplans, execution plans, risk plans, cost estimates, and schedules
Manage multidisciplinary engineering contractors through pre-FEED, FEED, and detailed design
Coordinate technical reviews including HAZID, HAZOP, model, and constructability reviews
Govern procurement activities including technical bid evaluations and vendor reviews
Integrate process, piping, instrumentation, electrical, civil, structural, and commissioning inputs
Manage scope change, risk registers, earned value, and project controls
Successful candidates will have:
Professional Engineer registered with APEGA
10–15 years of experience delivering oil and gas facility capital projects
Proven track record of successful project delivery across varying project sizes
Previous field-based engineering or construction experience
Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering and contractor teams
Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Extensive knowledge of applicable ASME codes and industry standards
Solid understanding of project controls systems and cost management tools
