The Sport, Tourism and Recreation (STAR) Division leads programming for the department. The Division is comprised of the Assistant Deputy Minister's office; the Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation (SPAR) Branch; and the Tourism Policy and Strategy Branch and the All-Season Resorts Branch. The STAR Division collaborates with many Government of Alberta Ministries and with a broad range of tourism, sport, physical activity, and recreation stakeholders. In modeling the Alberta Public Service Values, the Senior Policy Analyst has an essential role in collaborating with the SPAR branch and division team, as well as other ministries and stakeholders to obtain organizational goals.

We’re seeking a strategic policy leader who can turn complex issues into clear, evidence based solutions that drive real impact across the province.
As a Senior Policy Analyst, you will provide strategic leadership and expert policy advice that advances Alberta’s sport, physical activity, and recreation (SPAR) priorities. You will lead initiatives across the full policy life cycle — from research and development to implementation, evaluation, and performance measurement. Collaborating closely with partners across government and the broader SPAR sector, you will synthesize complex issues, support provincial and pan Canadian priorities, and deliver high quality, evidence based insights to senior leadership.
