As the Ministry of Forestry and Parks we are responsible for fostering Alberta’s environmentally responsible forest management practices, including management of wildfires. We preserve our provincial parks for the recreation and enjoyment of Albertans. As well as enabling access to public lands for recreational and commercial purposes while prioritizing conservation. Forestry and Parks also manage public lands and balances sustainable rangelands and grazing leases for Alberta producers.

Forestry Division situated in the Department of Forestry and Parks is seeking a Strategic Systems Advisor to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of forest and wildfire management. This is an opportunity to guide transformative program initiatives, work at the forefront of systems thinking and influence province-wide policy and intergovernmental relations.
Reporting to the Senior Policy Lead within the Strategic Forest Initiatives & Policy Section, the Strategic Systems Advisor provides expert leadership on highly complex strategic issues affecting Alberta’s forest and wildfire management. Acting as an advisor and change agent, the position contributes directly to the Forestry Division’s strategic priorities and the Government of Alberta’s broader policy and intergovernmental agenda.

Education and Experience:
A university degree in Policy, Public Administration, Natural Resources, Organizational Psychology, Strategic Foresight, Futures, Strategy, Communications, or a closely related field and 4 years progressively responsible related experience or equivalent as described below.

This is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday.
Travel within the area and throughout the province will be required as part of your responsibilities to coordinate with Ministry staff and colleagues, other government departments, clients, and other external stakeholders.
