Lead high impact mechanical engineering work supporting power generation reliability, outages, and capital upgrades on a long term contract
Agilus is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the Oil and Gas industry in Calgary, Alberta.
This senior level contract role provides critical mechanical engineering support to operating power generation facilities. You will influence reliability, safety, and performance through maintenance strategies, outage planning, equipment evaluations, and capital improvement initiatives. Working closely with cross functional teams, this role blends hands on technical expertise with leadership across engineering, contractors, and operations in a fast paced, safety sensitive environment.

$70.00 - $87.00 hourly

Responsibilities:
Develop maintenance plans and forecasts using inspection and condition data
Plan outages, turnarounds, and major maintenance scopes and budgets
Troubleshoot mechanical equipment issues and recommend reliability solutions
Lead mechanical and cross disciplinary engineering projects
Prepare technical scopes, bid documents, and procurement evaluations
Oversee contractors to ensure scope, schedule, cost, and quality compliance
Analyze vibration, oil, and condition monitoring data for corrective actions
Apply engineering codes, standards, and best practices to plant modifications
Requirements:
Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Maintain P.Eng. registration or eligibility through interprovincial mobility
Bring 4–6+ years of experience in power generation or heavy industrial environments
Demonstrate hands on experience with plant operations and troubleshooting
Show strong knowledge of maintenance planning and outage execution
Interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications
Conduct equipment failure investigations and root cause analysis
Travel up to 30% to field locations with a valid Class 5 license
