Agilus is recruiting for a Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Facilities in the Oil and Gas Sector in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer – HVAC & Facilities to join our engineering team in Fort McMurray. This role supports the safe, reliable operation of industrial facilities and occupied buildings, with a strong focus on HVAC and facility utility systems that protect people, equipment, and production. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and Projects teams to provide practical, field-based engineering support across production facilities, control rooms, electrical rooms, laboratories, and other safety-critical spaces.
Total rewards:
$80.00 - $115.00 hourly
Pay Rate between $80 to $95/hr for T4 and between $100 - $115/hr for IC
Contract until Dec 31, 2026
Mon to Fri 40 hours per week, onsite in Fort McMurray

A typical day:
Troubleshoot HVAC and facilities system issues, including airflow, temperature control, pressurization, and equipment reliability
Support day-to-day operational needs for assigned production units, responding to emergent facility issues
Collaborate with Operations and Maintenance to develop practical, executable engineering solutions
Prepare and review engineering work packages, drawings, specifications, and vendor documentation
Support Management of Change (MOC) activities related to HVAC, plumbing, and facilities modifications
Participate in field walkdowns, condition assessments, and deficiency reviews
Support commissioning, start-up, and handover of new or modified HVAC and facilities systems
Provide engineering input into maintenance strategies and asset lifecycle planning
Successful candidates will have:
10+ years of engineering experience, preferably in oil & gas and HVAC
Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
Strong background in HVAC and facility utility systems design, operation, and troubleshooting
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
Comfortable working in an operating plant environment, including regular field-based work
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams
Familiarity with Alberta codes and standards related to HVAC, plumbing, and building systems
Experience supporting production-aligned engineering roles. Experience with MOC processes, commissioning, or facilities asset management
