Agilus is recruiting for a Petroleum Engineering Technologist in the Oil and Gas Sector in Calgary, Alberta.
Our Client is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Petroleum Engineering Technologist to join their Firebag engineering team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely subsurface data management, optimizing production and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and safety.
Total rewards:
$60.00 - $63.00 hourly
$60 to $63/hr for T4 and $70 to $74/hr for IC
Contract until Dec 31, 2026 ( that could be later extended with business approval)
Mon to Fri 40 hours per week - All days in office in Calgary downtown
A typical day:
•Assist in the design and implementation of automation systems for well monitoring and control
• Monitor and analyze well performance data, including production rates, pressures, temperatures, and fluid compositions
• Identify and troubleshoot production challenges, collaborating with engineers and field personnel to implement solutions
• Compile and summarize simulation model results and help in creating simulation models input data
• Help the business to optimize the use of subsurface data (e.g., observation well data, seismic, well logs, core analysis)
• Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new technologies to improve operational efficiency
•Understand the contribution of this work and role to the safe operations of SAGD properties
• Develop and maintain scripts and databases to streamline data analysis and reporting
Successful candidates will have:
• Diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology or a related field. Eligible for registration with ASET
• 5-10 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on In Situ SAGD operations considered a plus
• Strong understanding of exploitation engineering principles and production optimization techniques
•Proficiency in subsurface and data analysis software tools (e.g., Petrel, PowerBI , Seeq, Wellview, PI)
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
