About the Opportunity
An established customer engagement and contact centre solutions organization is seeking a highly technical Senior Database Administrator to support mission-critical production and non-production environments. This role is ideal for a hands-on infrastructure professional who thrives in high-availability environments and enjoys owning the stability, performance, and security of enterprise-scale database systems.
Working closely with software engineering, DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams, you will play a key role in ensuring resilient cloud-hosted database operations across AWS and Azure. Your expertise will directly support millions of customer interactions and the continued scalability of a fast-paced technology-driven business.

The organization offers a competitive salary range of CAD $85,000 to $110,000, benefits after 60 days, and the chance to work remotely while collaborating with cross-functional teams across North America.
Your Responsibilities
- You’ll design and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions, including replication, failover clusters, and log shipping.
- In this role, you’ll proactively monitor and tune SQL Server and MySQL environments to optimize performance and stability.
- You’ll manage patching, backups, upgrades, integrity checks, and maintenance windows across production systems.
- You’ll administer cloud database services within AWS and Azure, including storage, scaling, and cost optimization.
- You’ll implement security controls including access management, encryption, auditing, and compliance best practices.
- You’ll automate operational tasks, deployments, and reporting using PowerShell, Python, or shell scripting.
Skills and Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as a production or operational Database Administrator.
- Deep expertise in SQL Server and MySQL, including architecture, HA/DR, replication, and security.
- Proven experience supporting cloud-hosted databases in AWS or Azure, both preferred.
- Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar automation languages.
- Experience participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation and supporting critical incidents.
- Familiarity with Terraform, Ansible, MongoDB, or microservices database optimization is considered a strong asset.
