Position Summary

As part of our expanding workforce, Commissionaires Southern Alberta is seeking Guards and Matrons – Support to Law Enforcement (Casual On‑Call) in Airdrie, AB.

Guards assigned to Law Enforcement support roles are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of individuals, property, and facilities within their assigned jurisdiction. This role involves regular patrols, emergency response, investigations, and collaboration with law enforcement partners. Successful candidates demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to respond effectively in high‑pressure situations.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Patrol designated areas to deter criminal activity and ensure public safety
  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency calls, incidents, and requests for assistance
  • Conduct investigations into suspicious activities, accidents, and security breaches
  • Apprehend suspects in accordance with legal procedures and established protocols
  • Assist with traffic control, crowd management, and event security
  • Collaborate with CPS and other law enforcement agencies to support enforcement efforts
  • Prepare accurate, detailed incident and activity reports for documentation and legal purposes

Skills, Abilities & Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Valid Alberta Security Services License
  • Fluent in English (written, verbal, and reading)
  • Valid First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Enhanced Security Clearance (minimum 3 years residency in Canada)
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency with computers and mobile technology
  • Professional demeanor with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent problem‑solving abilities and calm decision‑making in emergency situations
  • Physically fit with the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly for report writing

Assets

  • Former RCMP or Military experience
  • Military family member
  • Education or background in Law Enforcement

Working Conditions

  • 12‑hour shifts
  • Combination of indoor and outdoor work
  • Exposure to inclement weather
  • Prolonged periods of standing, sitting, or walking
  • Use of stairs (climbing and descending)
