About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading organization in the Canadian retail sector, is seeking a strategic and analytical Category Business Planner to help drive financial performance across key merchandise categories. In this role, you will partner closely with senior merchandising leaders and cross-functional teams to shape financial plans, optimize forecasts, and influence key business outcomes. Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead the development of annual financial plans and ongoing weekly forecasts for assigned business categories
  • In this role, you’ll analyze performance trends and provide recommendations to optimize financial outcomes
  • You’ll partner with merchandising leaders to identify risks and opportunities within forecasts and plans
  • You’ll build and maintain reporting tools to support both ongoing and ad-hoc business needs
  • You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain and promotions to align on operational goals
  • You’ll contribute to process improvements and support initiatives that enhance planning capabilities


Skills and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in retail, financial planning, or merchandise planning
  • Strong understanding of retail math and key business drivers impacting P&L
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate data into insights
  • Experience with forecasting and financial planning tools is considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present recommendations clearly
  • Collaborative mindset with strong relationship-building and influencing abilities
  • Post-secondary education in business, finance, or a related field
