Agilus is recruiting for a Electrical QA Engineer in the Utilities Industry in Calgary, Alberta.
Reporting to the Team Lead, QA & Metering Standards, the Senior Engineer will be accountable for the maintenance, updates, and enforcement of the Metering Standard to ensure that the practices and processes used in metering, grid interconnections and DER intake meet all legislative and safety requirements as it applies to regular business operations and future projects. This position also ensures the continuation and improvement of the Quality Assurance program.

Responsibilities:
Standards Development and Regulatory Adherence, manage existing standards and define opportunities to enhance through collection and analysis of suggestions from metering staff. Evaluate and coordinate stakeholder feedback and provide approval and signoff for the enhanced standard
Distribution Generation & Microgrid (DER)
Maintain and govern the Metering Standard and metering equipment specifications for grid interconnection as it applies to current and future DER operations.
Reviews, updates and approves changes to the metering standards for emerging DER technologies (i.e.: Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure, batteries, heat pumps).
Work with Customer Projects to review and approve metering systems for residential, commercial, multi-tenants and primary metered customers
Govern Meter Shop processes and activities to ensure meter shop operations are compliant with Measurement Canada’s accreditation program which allows Revenue Metering section the ability to verify meters on behalf of Measurement Canada
Engage with AUC, AESO, CEA and Measurement Canada technical working groups. Review and analyze regulation and rule changes which may impact EPC Metering operations
Coordinate testing, Review, and report results for all substation/POD Meters to AESO. Facilitate deficiency management as required
Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10 years of related utility experience.
P.Eng
Knowledge of Electrical Power Distribution Systems, including electrical and utility codes, regulations, work practices, and safety.
Knowledge of wireless communication and radio frequency standards would be an asset.
Strong understanding of the electrical industry and metering system technologies
Strong understanding of Alberta electrical regulatory environment including the Settlement System Code, Measurement Canada, CEA (Canadian Electricity Association), Electricity and Gas Inspection Act, Tariff Bill Code and EPC’s Terms and Conditions.
