The Opportunity
We’re currently hiring Photo Radar Technicians – Support to Law Enforcement (Casual) to support the Calgary Police Service Specialized Traffic Enforcement Unit. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for flexible, casual work while contributing to safer roadways in Calgary.
In this role, you’ll operate photo radar equipment at assigned sites, carefully document violations, and ensure equipment is set up correctly and producing high‑quality images. You may also be required to present your notes in court, so comfort speaking in a professional public setting is important.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct photo radar enforcement at designated Calgary sites
- Set up and operate units according to training standards
- Accurately document violations and maintain clear, detailed notes
- Make camera adjustments to ensure image quality while in operation
- Provide in‑person testimony in Provincial Court when required
What You Bring
- Proof of completion of High School, IQAS, or GED
(Post‑secondary education is not accepted by the Solicitor General when applying for Peace Officer status) - Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Office
- Excellent attention to detail, with solid data entry and report‑writing skills
- Ability to pass a CPS enhanced security clearance background check
- Confident, professional communicator with strong English fluency
- Ability to work independently in fast‑paced, changing environments
- Strong organizational, time‑management, and decision‑making skills
- Class 5 Driver’s Licence (no GDL) with a clean driver’s abstract
- Availability to work varied shifts, including evenings, overnights, and weekends
Strong Assets:
- Former RCMP or Military experience
- Military family member
- Education or background in Law Enforcement
Working Conditions
- Combination of indoor and outdoor work, including inclement weather
- Periods of standing, sitting, or walking
- Willingness to attend court on scheduled days off, if required
- Additional duties may be assigned to meet operational needs
