Agilus is recruiting for a Plant Engineer in the Industrial Mineral Company in Exhsaw, Alberta.
The Mechanical Project Engineer leads capital expenditure initiatives that enhance plant capacity, reliability, and safety in a bulk material processing environment. This role manages end to end mechanical projects from concept through commissioning, supporting current production of 140,000+ metric tons and future expansion plans, including a major new plant by 2030. The position works closely with operations and maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability, optimize systems, and deliver projects on time and within budget while meeting regulatory, safety, and operational standards.
Total rewards:
$110000.00 - $120000.00 annually
Base salary $110,000–$120,000.

A typical day:
Lead and deliver mechanical capital projects from design through commissioning.
Manage annual CapEx budgets ($2–8M) and control costs, schedules, and scope.
Develop technical specifications, estimates, timelines, and procurement packages.
Oversee vendor selection, equipment purchases, and contractor performance.
Design, upgrade, and integrate mechanical systems to meet production demands.
Drive reliability improvements using downtime, safety, and performance data.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety requirements.
Prepare technical reports, drawings, and presentations for leadership.repare technical reports, drawings, and presentations for leadership.
Successful candidates will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
P.Eng. designation or active pursuit preferred; open to EITs.
Minimum 4+ years’ experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.
Proven experience delivering significant capital expenditure projects.
Background in bulk material handling (mineral processing, pulp & paper, chemical).
Strong knowledge of crushers, conveyors, furnaces, pumps, and rotating equipment.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, CMMS, and engineering/reliability tools.
Working knowledge of ASME, API, ANSI, OSHA, and CSA standards.
