Tourism Nova Scotia operates the Amherst Visitor Information Centre (VIC), which is one of the first points of contact for many visitors to Nova Scotia. Our Team members are the front-line ambassadors that welcome visitors to the province.

As a student Maintenance Worker at the Amherst Visitor Information Centre, you are a part of a team responsible for assisting with the seasonal maintenance of the interior and exterior of the Amherst VIC building and grounds including required janitorial duties.
This opportunity would be a great fit for a student who enjoys being outside, as well enjoys working with various types of equipment. As a Maintenance student, you will gain hands on experience, and receive training and mentorship from our maintenance employees. This position is a demanding position which requires working in various types of weather.
This position reports to the Amherst VIC Maintenance Supervisor.

To be a successful in this role you must currently be enrolled as a student and returning to school in the fall (or next applicable semester for the program). Preference will be given to students with general handyperson experience.
This role requires an individual who has a positive attitude and ability to speak confidently and professionally when addressing visitors and staff within the facility. You work well independently and in team settings, valuing and respecting a diverse and inclusive environment.
You also have basic computer skills, including use of software packages such as Microsoft Office (Outlook and Word).

This is a labour-intensive opportunity requiring physical strength and dexterity. At times, you are subject to various environmental and temperature extremes. Ability to lift/carry 50+lbs of equipment over varying terrain is required.
There are two full-time (35 hours a week) student maintenance positions based out of the Amherst Provincial VIC, 90 Cumberland Loop. The position involves shiftwork, including weekends and holidays with shifts from 9am – 5pm.
This opportunity will start in mid-May with an end date of August 29, 2026 or later (depending on the return to school date).
Pay Grade: HOURLY
Salary Range: $16.75 - $31.02 Bi-Weekly
