Medavie Blue Cross is growing, and in this role you will help shape how innovative solutions are delivered across our internal teams and external partners. As a Business Analyst with the New Brunswick Provincial Programs Business Support Services team, you will translate evolving business needs into clear, actionable outcomes. You’ll work closely with stakeholders, clients, and delivery teams to capture requirements, assess impacts, and ensure alignment throughout the solution lifecycle. Your communication, facilitation, and analytical strengths will support the delivery and adoption of high‑quality solutions that make a meaningful difference for our team and our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate the discovery and clarification of business needs with relevant stakeholders, ensuring priorities and expectations are well‑defined and accurately documented.

  • Manage the full lifecycle of business requirements, ensuring they remain clear, validated, and aligned to the agreed‑upon solution throughout delivery.

  • Perform comprehensive business process gap analyses to compare current and future states, clearly outlining the impacts and changes required for successful adoption and ongoing support of the solution.

  • Establish and maintain a structured communication framework that ensures transparent sharing of business analysis deliverables and supports effective expectation management across all delivery partners.

  • Cultivate a collaborative environment that promotes a unified, integrated business perspective across the solution delivery lifecycle.

  • Independently plan and manage business analysis activities, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring alignment with project schedules; proactively surface risks and issues with recommended mitigation strategies.

  • Coordinate closely with respective teams to define and schedule business analysis work, considering project complexity, constraints, and interdependencies.

  • Partner with Quality Assurance (QA) to interpret and clarify business requirements, ensuring test coverage aligns with prioritized needs, anticipated impacts, and project constraints.

  • Drive continuous improvement by initiating and participating in feedback loops throughout the solution delivery lifecycle, identifying opportunities to refine business analysis processes and frameworks.

Required Qualifications:

Work Experience: 5+ years of progressive work in a Business Analyst role.
Education: College diploma, bachelor's degree in a related field, or a combination of relevant experience.

Other Qualifications:

  • Process Improvement Certification (Lean Six Sigma or Kaizen) is considered an asset but not required.

  • Strong understanding of data models, relational databases, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, SSRS).

  • Experience with SQL and data querying is a plus.

  • IIBA Certification is considered an asset but not required.

  • Proficient using spreadsheets, word processing and presentation software.

  • Exposure and understanding of SharePoint, JIRA/ALM, and process modelling software (e.g., Visio, iGrafx).

Language Skills: English, written and spoken. French would be considered an asset.

Core Competencies:

Communication:

  • Strategic Communication Skills: This role requires someone who communicates in a way that is clear, concise, complete, and accurate. They must be able to express ideas efficiently and adapt their message to different audiences, including large groups. Strong awareness of audience needs is essential, along with the ability to adjust tone and style accordingly. The individual should also be skilled at gathering information from multiple sources and presenting it in formats that stakeholders can easily understand and act upon.

  • Facilitation & Listening Skills: Strong facilitation and listening skills enable this individual to run effective meetings with clear purpose, agendas, and action items while ensuring the right people are involved. They act as a catalyst for change by keeping teams focused on project objectives and encouraging innovative thinking. Their ability to negotiate, build consensus, and adapt their approach to different stakeholder groups supports productive collaboration and forward momentum.

Strategic Problem Solving and Planning:

  • Results‑Driven Initiative: An action‑oriented professional proactively seeks out the information and resources needed to move work forward. They take ownership of eliciting, confirming, and securing approval for requirements, and they surface risks or issues as soon as they arise. They are comfortable recommending mitigation strategies and navigating ambiguity by synthesizing limited information to identify critical business needs and underlying assumptions. They rely on subject‑matter experts appropriately while drawing out the insights required to progress. This person is confident identifying assumptions, risks, and potential impacts even when details are incomplete.

  • Critical Analysis & Problem Solving: A strong analytical mindset is essential, with the ability to independently interpret information and recognize meaningful relationships between data points and concepts. This competency includes quickly identifying gaps, impacts, and dependencies, then forming well‑reasoned conclusions. The individual should be comfortable sharing their findings, validating them with others, and adjusting their analysis as new information becomes available.

  • Prioritization & Planning: Effective time management involves setting clear priorities, building realistic timelines, and adjusting plans as circumstances change. This person stays organized, prepared, and proactive—often establishing and sharing agendas to keep work on track. They collaborate with the right stakeholders at the right moments and act with an appropriate sense of urgency. Strong relationship‑building skills support this competency, as they foster a collaborative environment, build long‑term partnerships, and navigate diverse working styles with patience and adaptability. They also demonstrate political awareness by quickly understanding organizational culture, structures, decision‑makers, influencers, and subject‑matter experts.

Continuous Learning and Intellectual Curiosity:

  • Growth Mindset: This competency reflects someone who quickly absorbs new concepts and adapts to unfamiliar subject matter with ease. They are naturally curious, eager to explore new ideas, and motivated to deepen their understanding without needing extensive direction.

Security Clearance Requirement: In conjunction with our contract with the Federal Government, you will be required to have Reliability Status Clearance (Enhanced Level B).  This includes Fingerprinting, Criminal Record Check, Credit Check and you must have resided in Canada for at least 5 years and hold Permanent Resident or Citizenship Status.

What we give back

As a not-for-profit organization, we don’t answer to shareholders. Instead, we invest our earnings in our business, our communities and, most importantly, our employees. We use some of these earnings to support:

Programs to support causes that are close to our employees' hearts, matching the volunteer hours and donations they contribute

An annual United Way workplace campaign led by employees in each of our locations

The Medavie Foundation, which invests in community initiatives and organizations that improve the wellbeing of Canadians, focuses on some of the most pressing mental and physical health challenges facing Canadians.

We want to meet you as you are

At Medavie Blue Cross, we foster a culture of openness, understanding and a sense of belonging where everyone can bring their true selves to work. Nearly 70% of our management roles are held by women and we’re committed to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace where everyone is valued for who they are and what they contribute. We will accommodate people with disabilities during the recruitment, selection and hiring processes.
