About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-established organization in the Ottawa area, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their collaborative finance team. In this role, you will support financial operations across a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial properties and multiple affiliated companies. Your work will directly support financial accuracy, business insight, and strategic decision-making across the organization.
You will work closely with experienced finance leaders in a hands-on environment where technical accounting expertise is highly valued. Your Responsibilities
- You’ll prepare accurate financial statements directly from trial balances for multiple entities within the organization.
- In this role, you’ll perform variance analysis and interpret financial data to provide meaningful insights and recommendations.
- You’ll manage fixed asset accounting, including maintaining depreciation schedules and supporting asset-related transactions.
- You’ll support multi-entity accounting activities across residential and commercial property portfolios.
- You’ll assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable processes to ensure complete and accurate financial records.
- You’ll collaborate closely with finance leadership and internal teams to ensure reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
Skills and Qualifications
- 8 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience in a hands-on accounting role.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, including preparing financial statements directly from trial balances.
- Experience with multi-entity accounting environments.
- Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
- Experience with property accounting systems such as Buildium, Yardi, QuickBooks, or similar platforms is considered an asset.
- Experience in property accounting is considered an asset.
