We are currently seeking a dedicated District Supervisor to support Calgary Police Services (CPS) across eight district offices city‑wide. This role is essential in supervising District Commissionaires, ensuring operational excellence, and maintaining safety and security across CPS facilities.


Position Summary

The District Supervisor is a Sergeant‑level leadership role and the immediate supervisor for all Commissionaires assigned to CPS District Offices. Reporting to the Commissionaires Contract 2IC and the Site Supervisor, this position requires strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

The District Supervisor oversees 33 full‑time Commissionaires plus casual staff across 8 CPS District Offices. This role involves scheduling oversight, personnel management, site visits (including nights), training coordination, and serving as a key liaison with CPS personnel and Facilities.

This position requires professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to respond to both personnel and security‑related issues promptly and effectively.


Key Responsibilities

• Maintain detailed knowledge of CPS District Post Orders and SOPs
• Maintain working knowledge of all district roles; able to train, assist, or fill in as required
• Review all schedules in TrackTik daily to ensure full coverage; assist DCC with vacancies
• Monitor Time Off, Vacation, and LOA requests with DCC to ensure adequate staffing
• Review Duty Patrol and Incident Reports early each shift and escalate concerns as needed
• Conduct regular visits to all CPS district offices, including nights at least once every 6 weeks
• Build strong working relationships with Commissionaires and CPS Administration Sergeants
• Enforce uniform, dress, deportment, and professional standards
• Enforce safety regulations; complete WCB documentation and safety investigations
• Coordinate and verify training and onboarding for all new district personnel
• Liaise with Facilities regarding work orders and issue status updates
• Assist the public and respond to general inquiries
• Manage interactions with unruly or belligerent individuals
• Support policy and procedure review and development
• Follow FOIP regulations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Keep site supervisors informed of all issues affecting District Commissionaires
• Remain on‑call 24/7 for emergency situations


Qualifications & Requirements

• Grade 12 or Alberta GED equivalent
• Class 5 driver’s licence with clean driving abstract
• Valid Alberta Security License
• Minimum 3–5 years of supervisory experience managing 20+ personnel
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite; CPS systems will be taught)
• Knowledge of phone system operations
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills
• Ability to self‑organize, manage priorities, and work independently
• Calm and professional presence in emergencies
• Exceptional dress and deportment
• Ability to build customer relations with CPS members and civilian personnel
• Must sign Privacy Agreement for personal information
• Must complete CPS‑approved “Respectful Workplace” training
• Must sign CPS or Corps‑approved Non‑Disclosure Agreement
Assets:
• Previous security experience
• Previous NATO or Commonwealth police or military experience


Shift Information

• Standard hours: 08:00 – 16:00, Monday to Friday
• Schedule may vary to support CPS and Commissionaires operational needs
• On‑call 24/7; issued a Camsat phone


Working Conditions

• Work performed across eight CPS District Offices
• Combination of administrative duties, site visits, and in‑person supervision
• Daytime hours with occasional night visits required
• High‑responsibility environment involving personnel oversight and site support
• Driving between district locations required
