About the Opportunity
Our client, a well-known Canadian retail organization, is seeking an Assortment Planner to join their merchandising planning team. This role plays a key part in shaping how products are selected, distributed, and optimized across a national store network. You will work closely with merchandising, buying, and store operations teams to ensure the right products reach the right stores at the right time.

This position combines retail planning expertise with data-driven decision making. The team is focused on building stronger assortment architecture, improving store clustering strategies, and using analytics to support smarter merchandising outcomes. It is an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale retail planning initiatives while collaborating with a high-performing and driven team.

Your Responsibilities
• You’ll support merchants by conducting deep-dive analysis on assortment performance, vendor and brand productivity, and space utilization to inform merchandising decisions.
• You’ll develop assortment architecture frameworks, helping determine core product mix, assortment breadth and depth, and store tiering strategies.
• You’ll collaborate with merchandising, buying, and store operations teams to align assortment plans with store space and seasonal product strategies.
• You’ll build dashboards and analytical views using Power BI to support data-driven assortment decisions and reporting.
• You’ll support seasonal line reviews by evaluating assortment productivity, pricing strategies, and competitive landscape insights.
• You’ll contribute to strategic assortment initiatives, including store-level planning for new stores and renovations.

Skills and Qualifications
• 3+ years of experience in retail planning, merchandising, forecasting, or analytics roles.
• Experience working in retail environments, ideally with apparel, footwear, or soft goods categories.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into business insights and merchandising recommendations.
• Proficiency in Power BI for building dashboards and reporting to support business decision making.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including merchandising, buying, and operations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to present insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
