Reporting to the Manager of Performance and Risk Management, the Performance and Risk Advisor supports the Ministry’s corporate planning, reporting and enterprise risk management functions. This role ensures the effective development, coordination, and reporting of legislated planning documents while enabling informed, consistent decision-making on department-wide priorities.
The advisor is responsible for leading the development, coordination, and publication of the ministry’s Business Plan and Annual Report. This includes working across the department with subject matter experts in the identification and alignment of performance measures and outcome-focused targets. The incumbent is expected to research complex, sensitive issues and provide high-quality briefing material, presentations, and reports to inform senior and executive management decision-making.
The Advisor leads the Ministry’s Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process, including conducting semi-annual risk reviews, maintaining and updating the corporate risk register, and preparing year-end risk reporting. The role ensures risk information is current, comprehensive, and aligned with organizational priorities.
The successful candidate must be able to identify and interpret linkages between government strategic priorities and day-to-day operations as well as proactively identify and troubleshoot issues related to the implementation of ministry planning and risk management processes.
