Agilus is recruiting for a Junior Laboratory Technician in the Oil and Gas Sector in Fort McMurray, Alberta.
Laboratory technician will report to the Laboratory Supervisor. The laboratory technician will be responsible for ensuring that all analysis and test methods completed daily are performed according to Fort Hills Laboratory standards and procedures. Additional duties include but are not limited to, calibration and verification of laboratory equipment, preventive and corrective maintenance on laboratory equipment, receiving, logging, preparing, and discarding the samples, results entry in the LIMS system

Work Location: Site Based Position at Fort Hills
Schedule: Shift, 7days on /7 days off, 12 hours Day or night
FIFO from Edmonton and Calgary, FLights and Accomodation provided by the company
1 year contract
A typical day:
Receive, examine, organize, and log all samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for testing according to established procedures
Responsible to provide good and reliable analysis results to all the laboratory customers in a reasonable timeframe
Perform required instrument setup, verification, calibrations, routine preventive and corrective maintenance and relevant QA testing according to established procedures
Participate in toolbox meeting, safety meeting, SOS and FLRA program and safety inspection
Participate in method validation and improvement projects in the workplace
Ensure that all work is completed in a safe, environmentally responsible manner according to established policies, procedures, and Good Laboratory Practices
Successful candidates will have:
Must possess a minimum of a two-year diploma in Chemical Technology or a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from a recognized institution • Chemical Technology Diploma from NAIT
• Chemical Technology Diploma from SAIT
• Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (BSc) from a recognized University
2+ years of experience in an industrial quality control laboratory
Experience in a LIMS environment would be an asset
Strong safe work practices and a commitment to Journey to zero
Understanding of laboratory QA/QC practices, specifically ISO17025 is desired
Good communication and teamwork with others.Knowledge of relevant ASTM, UOP, CGSB or other standard methods of analysis
