POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Production Helper is an essential role that supports to the manufacturing process by assisting in various tasks to ensure smooth and efficient operations. This entry-level role involves performing general duties such as material handling, machine operation assistance, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

 

The Production Helper works collaboratively with the production team to contribute to the overall success of the extrusion plant. The Production Helper in an extrusion plant plays a vital role in supporting the production team and ensuring the overall efficiency of the manufacturing process. This position serves as an entry point for individuals interested in gaining hands-on experience in the blown film industry.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Forklift loading and unloading of raw materials onto/from the production line.
  • Transport materials within the plant using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other designated equipment.
  • Support machine operators in the set-up and operation of the press or blown film production machinery.
  • Help with the feeding of materials into the machines and monitoring material levels.
  • Participate in quality control activities by visually inspecting the produced film for defects.
  • Notify supervisors or machine operators of any issues related to product quality.
  • Keep work areas clean and organized, including the removal of waste and scrap materials.
  • Assist in routine cleaning tasks and basic maintenance activities as directed by the maintenance team.
  • Work alongside the production team to ensure a continuous and efficient workflow.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and team leaders to meet production targets.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to supervisors promptly.
  • Willingness to learn and acquire new skills related to the press or blown film production.
  • Seek opportunities for training and development within the plant.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to relay information about production status and any issues encountered.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Prior experience would be an asset; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively with a team.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn about the press and blown film production processes.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move moderate loads.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Flexibility to work in shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.

 

Pay Rate: $22.66/hr to start
