Purpose 

 

Contributes to the overall success in Technology Finance ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. 

 

Accountabilities  

 

  • Maintains the central financial datasets and spreadsheets, including financial results, and master transitaccount hierarchies, used by Technology Finance for planning, forecasting, and reporting. Use different tools to create, update and support the database with strategic decisions. 

  • Implement automation to increase the team’s efficiency. 

  • Prime liaison with main technology support team 

  • Prepares and presents complex financial data and information in a meaningful, concise, and user-friendly manner for Technology Finance management (i.e., data visualization). 

  • Implements continual improvements to processes and reporting to meet evolving business requirements and best practices. 

  • Ad hoc analysis and reconciliations on a monthly/quarterly basis 

  • Champions a client-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge. 

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. 

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.  

  • Champions a high-performance environment and contributes to an inclusive work environment.  

  • Demands at month-end/quarter-end are high in terms of financial reporting requirements; must manage workloads and produce high quality output efficiently to meet tight deadlines. 

  • As a key business partner, must effectively build relationships with the key partners across Finance and Technology 

 

Education / Experience / Other Information  

 

  • University degree in business, finance, or equivalent 

  • Experience working with large datasets / databases 

  • Proficiency with Excel 

  • Experience with VBA coding 

  • Attention to detail is crucial 

  • Data visualization, data illustrations and automation 

  • Knowledge of financial and management reporting principles as applied to banking issues, and an understanding of the business planning process, dealing with accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls. 

  • SQL (would be an asset)
