The Department of Primary and Preventative Health Services is building a more resilient and sustainable health care system that can support Albertans getting care when and where they need it, while responding to system-wide health challenges, improving health outcomes, and maintaining fiscal responsibility. The ministry supports Albertans’ health and well-being throughout their lives by protecting public health and promoting wellness and coordinating and delivering safe, person-centered, quality health services.
Operating within the Primary Care System Oversight Branch of the Primary and Preventative Health Care Division, the Senior Program Advisor position plays a pivotal role in informing strategic decisions by developing evaluation frameworks, performance monitoring systems, and evidence-based recommendations for senior Ministry leadership and the Deputy Minister. The Senior Program Advisor is a subject matter expert responsible for guiding the design, implementation, and continuous refinement of performance measurement and evaluation in support of high-profile initiatives, such as Modernizing Alberta’s Primary Health Care System (MAPS) and System Refocusing initiatives.
The incumbent is relied upon to work independently and demonstrate strong political acumen, systems thinking, and a commitment to fostering a culture of evidence-informed practice. The incumbent must demonstrate expertise in selecting meaningful indicators, designing robust methodologies, and translating complex data into actionable recommendations.
