Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

Reporting to the Manager of Applied Research, the Financial Analyst will support the Applied Research team regarding finance policies, employee expense tracking & reimbursement, project accounting & reporting, as well as accounts payable. The incumbent will work closely with the Research Financial Coordinators to assist with the financial management of specific research projects while liaising with other departments within NSCC.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business Administration.
  • You have a minimum of three years of recent and related occupational experience in a fast-paced, office environment. Familiarity with the complexities of a Research environment is a strong asset.
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail, Office 365, including Excel, Word, SharePoint and MS Teams.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology, and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • You possess working knowledge and experience with Excel spreadsheets.
  • You possess working knowledge of accounting functions related to general ledger processing.
  • You possess demonstrated time-management, organizational, and planning skills and the ability to manage multiple demands and projects, multi-task, and meet changing priorities/deadlines.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated customer service experience with ability to communicate effectively and with tact/diplomacy to individuals at all levels
  • Familiarity with a Research/External Grant Funding environment and associated guidelines (e.g., TAGFA, Responsible Conduct of Research) is a strong asset

  • You have proven records and information management skills and abilities , including an above-average attention to detail for ensuring comprehensive, accurate, and up-to-date spreadsheets and financial records.
