About the Opportunity
Our client in the healthcare sector is seeking an experienced Medical Billing Secretary to support a busy clinical team in downtown Toronto. This role plays a vital part in ensuring physicians are accurately and efficiently compensated, while maintaining compliance with provincial billing standards and internal financial processes.
You will work closely with multiple physicians, finance partners, and patient accounts, becoming a trusted resource for complex OHIP and non-OHIP billing matters. This is an opportunity to contribute to a patient-focused environment where accuracy, collaboration, and accountability truly matter.

Your Responsibilities
You’ll process, review, and submit OHIP, non-OHIP, and third-party claims for multiple physicians, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
You’ll retrieve and interpret medical documentation from systems such as PowerChart and Astraia to support complex billing cases.
You’ll liaise with the Ministry of Health to resolve billing errors, adjudication issues, and inquiries.
You’ll coordinate with Finance on non-OHIP collections, cost centre allocations, and reconciliation of uninsured patient accounts.
You’ll generate billing summaries, audit reports, and error statistics using Excel to support physicians and leadership decision-making.
You’ll provide administrative support, cross-coverage for colleagues, and respond to patient billing inquiries with professionalism and care.
Skills and Qualifications
3+ years of medical billing experience, including extensive OHIP and non-OHIP billing
Proven experience supporting multiple physicians in a computerized billing environment
Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze data, generate reports, and identify discrepancies
Solid understanding of medical terminology and healthcare billing regulations
Experience with Cerner, PowerChart, or Astraia is considered an asset
Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting
