Financial Sector Regulation and Policy is responsible for regulating and supervising insurance companies, captive insurance companies, and pension plans registered in the province. The division provides policy support and analysis related to insurance, Alberta pension plans, and the Canada Pension Plan. It also provides policy and regulatory oversight and support for Alberta-based financial institutions, including ATB Financial, Alberta credit unions, and loan and trust corporations. In addition, the division is responsible for implementing Care-First insurance in Alberta.
The Employment Pensions branch administers and enforces the requirements of the Employment Pension Plans Act (EPPA) to ensure that all pension plans registered with the branch comply with the legislation. The branch registers new Alberta-based pension plans and monitors existing plans to ensure ongoing compliance.

The Manager, Compliance and Research ensures pension plans registered in Alberta comply with legislation and regulatory standards. This role protects plan members by monitoring risk, reviewing complex filings, leading examinations, and advising on policy improvements.

A University degree in Business, Law, Economics, Human Resources, Management, Actuarial Studies, or related field. Minimum 4 years of experience in the pension industry (regulatory compliance, plan administration, actuarial consulting, or pension consulting).

This is a full-time position working 7.25 hours per day / 36.25 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
