The Senior Category Specialist is responsible for leading strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing category performance to support organizational goals What's in it for you: $100000.00 - $120000.00 annually Permanent position Location: Calgary Hybrid work model Full benefits from day 1 3 weeks vacation A typical day: Develop and execute multi-year category strategies aligned with organizational objectives Manage complex sourcing and contracting initiatives across O&M and Corporate categories. Lead the full lifecycle of supplier and category management, including spend analysis, market intelligence, sourcing strategy creation, and category performance improvements. Lead end-to-end sourcing processes, including RFI/RFQ/RFP development, bid evaluation, negotiation, and award recommendations Drive cost efficiency and contribute to the profitability of existing and new assets through sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management. Draft, review, and negotiate commercial terms in collaboration with Legal, Risk, Finance, and other stakeholders. Conduct spend analysis, market research, and benchmarking to identify opportunities for value creation. Independently lead strategic sourcing, manage high-value contracts, structure commercial models, and influence cross-functional stakeholders Successful candidates will have: • 5+ years of experience interpreting and working with complex agreements as a Category Specialist, and 10+ years of experience in SCM overall Strong background in strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier management, and category strategy development Experience in leading strategic sourcing, managing high-value contracts, structure commercial models, Exceptional communication skills (written and spoken) Proven track record leading complex sourcing and contracting initiatives Strong capability to understand and interpret technical concepts within commercial agreements at a high level.
