About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading organization within Canada’s digital payments and financial services ecosystem, is seeking a Senior Specialist in Platform Engineering to support mission-critical messaging and secure file transfer platforms. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, reliability, and secure systems design, enabling high-volume, real-time digital transactions that power the Canadian economy.
You will work closely with engineering, security, and operations teams to operate and evolve Red Hat AMQ and enterprise File Transfer platforms. This is a hands-on role where your expertise will directly influence platform stability, scalability, and security across on-prem and hybrid environments.

Your Responsibilities
- You will deploy and operate Red Hat AMQ Broker and AMQ Streams on OpenShift using supported Operators and container images.
- You will manage broker lifecycle activities including configuration changes, scaling, upgrades, and capacity planning
- You will operate and govern enterprise Secure File Transfer platforms, supporting SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, AS2, and hybrid integrations.
- You will build, maintain, and enhance on-prem OpenShift clusters, including service mesh, ingress, and platform upgrades.
- You will lead incident response efforts, differentiate platform versus application faults, and support SLA and SLO commitments.
- You will implement automation-first practices using Ansible, Bash, Python, and CI/CD pipelines while supporting ITIL-aligned change management.
Skills and Qualifications
- 8+ years of IT experience, including 5+ years in Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or related roles
- Strong hands-on expertise with Red Hat AMQ Broker, ActiveMQ Artemis, and AMQ Streams on OpenShift
- Experience operating enterprise Secure File Transfer platforms, with GoAnywhere MFT considered a strong asset
- Deep knowledge of OpenShift, Kubernetes, containerized workloads, and service mesh technologies
- Experience with automation, GitOps workflows, and infrastructure as code, Terraform considered an asset
- Strong understanding of observability, monitoring tools, and incident response practices
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate effectively across technical and business teams
