Your Opportunity
As a Senior ITS Engineer, you will evaluate, select, specify, plan and design intelligent transportation systems or products for a project verifying compliance with applicable codes and internal engineering standards / practices. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations and field work. The projects that you may be assigned to will have routine and complex features for the following types of work: roadways, bridges, tunnels, transportation and transit facilities, site development projects, and parks.
Your Key Responsibilities
Design and develop intelligent transportation systems, including but not limited to variable message sign (VMS), closed circuit television (CCTV) camera, vehicle detection station (VDS), queue warning station (QWS), travel time (TT), communications and power.
Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for ITS projects.
Attend meetings with clients, authorities having jurisdiction, vendors, and utility companies to coordinate projects.
Prepare complete deliverables and documents including calculations, drawings, and specifications with minor supervisor.
Peer review plans and provide quality control reviews of technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates.
Review shop drawings and equipment submittals for compliance with ITS standards and guidelines.
Assist project managers in the preparation of client proposals and reports.
Examine field conditions as required to support development and completion of projects.
Handle multiple complex assignments simultaneously.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ITS solutions with existing infrastructure.
Monitor and evaluate the performance of ITS systems and recommend improvements.
Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and project teams.
Stay updated with the latest advancements in ITS technology and best practices.
Responsible for certifying professional work on projects.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Proficiency in relevant software tools including:- MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
MS Project
AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
Adobe Acrobat and/or Bluebeam Revu
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with industry best practices.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to lead design teams, manage projects, and check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
