What you'll do

Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

  • You will be accountable to support the execution of a college-wide Safety Management System in support of Senior Management, Occupational Health and Safety Committees, and the Campus Management Teams.
  • You will be responsible for the promotion of an effective safety culture, which supports, develops, and enables our faculty and staff to excel in program delivery.
  • Reporting to the Manager, Health and Safety Services, you will perform safety inspections and audits, accident investigations, training development and delivery, assist with the development of safety and environmental policy and procedures and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is the completion of a Post Secondary program in a recognized OHS program. Completion of relevant technical coursework in Safety, Fire Prevention, Industrial Hygiene, or Risk Management would be preferred. In addition, you possess valid CPR and First Aid certification. Advanced certification such as Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) would be considered an asset.
  • You have a minimum of three years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience performing duties in Occupational Health and Safety, Fire Prevention Inspections, Accident investigations, or closely related activities.
  • Experience in projects pertaining to a safety management system would be an asset
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, and E-mail
  • Occupational Health and Safety experience that includes supporting multiple locations, and experience in a postsecondary training environment would be considered an asset.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work
  • Experience in training/facilitation preparation, delivery and evaluation would be considered an asset
  • Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset

  • You are dedicated to life-long learning in Health and Safety and working towards a CRSP designation
