Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Alberta Media Fund and Financial Operations Manager, this position is responsible for providing advice, consultation, and information services for all cultural industry grants including the Alberta Media Fund (film, television and digital media production, book and magazine publishing, as well as sound recording) to internal and external stakeholders. The incumbent communicates accurate and up to date information in the areas of: provincial/national resources available to cultural industry organizations, organizational policy, financial reporting and administration, grants program development and policy, and a broad range of information and issues related to the funding opportunities and systems available.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide research, analysis, advice, consultation, and information services for Cultural Industry grants and contributes to the creation, stability, and growth of provincial Cultural Industries Infrastructure.
2. Support the efficient delivery of all grant programs within the Cultural Industries Branch in alignment with Department goals and objectives including the ongoing management and monitoring of multiple cultural industry grant streams. 
3. Identify needs for changes to program policy and delivery and provide recommendations to management and executive. 
4. Build collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. 
5. Provide support to assigned projects. 
6. Provide guidance to grant program staff and participate as a member of a collaborative team to ensure success of the branch. 
7. Provides cover-off for the Manager and other team members.

Qualifications

University graduation in a related field (i.e. Arts, Business, etc) plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below

Equivalency:

Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

•    1 year of education for 1 year of experience.
•    1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Related Experience and Qualifications:

• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience.
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
• Related Experience and Qualifications:
• Experience and knowledge of grant management and grant program design is required.
• Experience with granting systems such as GATE.
• Experience working with stakeholders or the public providing information to solve a problem or inform on a topic.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in terms of preparing briefing notes, communicating client needs, and presenting recommendations on possible solutions to issues.
• In-depth knowledge of a variety or cultural industries currently supported by the branch (film, television and digital media production, book and magazine publishing, sound recording) and the business pressures they face, as well as a general understanding of other industries that could be considered part or the creative or cultural industries sector.
• Understanding of the specific operational challenges of cultural industry organizations and the governance, artistic, technological and financial framework required for them to effectively operate.
• Knowledge of applicable acts, legislation, regulations, policy, and procedures that guide the branch.
• Familiarity with general accounting practices, contracts and legal agreements, corporate and non-profit administration practices.

Notes

There is (1) permanent, full-time position working 36.25 hours per week.
