About the Opportunity:
Our public sector client is seeking a detail oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join their finance team on a contract basis. This role is heavily focused on Accounts Payables and is designed to provide backfill support while the existing team focuses on project work. You’ll step into a well-documented environment with clear SOPs, supportive colleagues and hands on training to help you get up to speed quickly.

Your Responsibilities:
- You’ll process accounts payable, including invoices, expense claims and cheque requisitions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to corporate policies
- You’ll prepare payment runs, bank deposits and remittances while reconciling general ledger accounts
- You’ll support month end procedures, journal vouchers and other system maintenance tasks
- You’ll respond to vendor and staff inquiries professionally and promptly
- You’ll help onboard colleagues and provide guidance on AP processes as needed
- You’ll maintain financial records and ensure all transactions are correctly coded and balanced
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with accounting software; Sage500 experience is an asset but not required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to manage high volumes of transactions
- Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and work independently or as part of a team
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment
- Knowledge of accounting principles and office procedures, including AP and AR
