Veterinary Technician or Technologist

Compensation: $25.00 to $26.00 depending on experience

Additional Compensation: Premium pay for night shifts

Toronto Veterinary Emergency Hospital is a state-of-the-art veterinary emergency and referral hospital, providing expert care and treatment around the clock. We are currently welcoming New Graduates from Veterinary Technician or Technologist programs who are eager to be part of an amazing, collaborative team. Responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing compassionate care to emergency and critical patients under the guidance of experienced Registered Veterinary Technicians and veterinarians

  • Participate in patient triage, monitoring, and basic assessments in a fast-paced emergency environment

  • Support veterinarians and senior technicians during emergency procedures, diagnostics, and treatments

  • Learn to safely perform anesthesia and sedation monitoring for emergency and referral cases

  • Collect and prepare laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic imaging, including radiography

  • Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as directed and in accordance with your training level

  • Operate and learn to use advanced medical and monitoring equipment with mentorship and hands-on training

  • Communicate professionally and empathetically with pet owners, recognizing the emotional nature of emergency care

  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records under supervision

  • Follow hospital protocols for safety, and patient care standards

  • Work collaboratively with the emergency and referral teams to provide continuous, high-quality care

  • Actively participate in training, mentorship, and continuing education opportunities designed to support skill development and professional growth

  • Scheduled to write the VTNE (we offer in-house mentorship, academic support, and financial assistance to help you achieve registration)

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Veterinary Technician accredited program allowing for registration in Ontario

  • A genuine interest in emergency and specialty medicine, with enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills

  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast paced environment

  • Flexibility to adjust routines and responsibilities as needed in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same

  • Excellent communications skills and a compassionate approach to client care

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary medical team

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to high standards of patient care
