Position Summary

The Airside Escort Driver will be responsible for safely operating a Commissionaires branded vehicle at all times, conducting escort operations for the West Runway Rehabilitation Project. They must have a clear and concise radio communication skills, monitor operations and report any inefficiencies or non-compliances. The driver will also utilize Visitor Management software to ensure all visitors have the appropriate Document of Entitlement. Compliance with Transport Canada escort regulations and detection of unauthorized entry or suspicious behavior is also required. The position reports to the Escort Operations Manager and Site Lead.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibilities of Airside Escort Driver include but is not limited to.
  • Safe operation of a Commissionaire branded vehicle, at all times
  • Safely conduct escort operations for the purposes of the West Runway Rehabilitation Project
  • Clear and concise radio communication skills, as set out by the Restricted Operators Certificate – Aviation (ROC-A)
  • Monitor escort operations and report inefficiencies or non-compliances.
  • Utilize the Visitor Management software and ensure that all ‘Visitors’ possess and display the appropriate accepted Document of Entitlement (DOE).
  • Conduct themselves in accordance with Transport Canada escort regulations and evaluating compliance against accepted escort ratios.
  • Detect, deter, and respond to any unauthorized entry in restricted and critical areas.
  • Observe any persons acting suspicious or demonstrating unusual behavior; report suspicious activity / behavior to Operations Centre

Skills, Abilities & Educational Requirements:

  • Must hold a D or DA AVOP with night endorsement in good standing.
  • Must hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must always hold and maintain a Transportation Security Clearance (RAIC) for the duration of the Contract.
  • Must hold an Emergency or Standard First Aid certificate.
  • Must hold a Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver’s License.
  • Personnel are expected to be physically able to perform the job assigned to them.
  • Maintain a high level of radio proficiency.
  • Required to be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English, additional languages are considered an asset.
  • Formal education sufficient for effective communication, including reading, writing and comprehension and effective decision making as required by the position.
  • Candidates able to work short notice will be considered an asset.
  • Candidates must be available and willing to work overtime, nights, days, weekends and Statutory Weekends (24/7)

Working Conditions:

  • Work 12-hour shifts.
  • May be exposed to prolonged periods of walking, sitting, or standing.
  • May be employed indoors or outdoors in periods of inclement weather.
