Job Title: Junior Accountant (3-Month Contract)

Location: North York, ON
Schedule: 4 days onsite, 1 day remote (Wednesdays from home)
Hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (40 hours per week)
Compensation: $28–$32 per hour
Contract Length: 3 months with strong potential for conversion to permanent

About the Opportunity

Our client, a large multinational organization in the electronics and consumer goods sector, is seeking a Junior Accountant to support their in-house Finance team. This role requires experience working directly within corporate accounting functions at mid-to-large operating companies, preferably within manufacturing or retail environments, where candidates have been exposed to high-volume transactions, structured month-end processes, and ERP-based workflows.

The position begins as a 3-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension and potential conversion to permanent employment based on performance and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process high-volume Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions, including invoice coding, posting, and payment tracking.
  • Perform weekly and monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations following internal controls.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to support accurate month-end closing.
  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end activities, including accruals, reconciliations, and variance support.
  • Maintain accurate financial documentation in accordance with company policies and audit requirements.
  • Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely processing of payments.
  • Coordinate approval workflows and ensure adherence to corporate accounting policies.
  • Assist the Finance team with ad hoc accounting tasks as required.
Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of hands-on accounting experience working in-house for mid-to-large corporate environments.
  • Experience in manufacturing or retail accounting environments is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in full-cycle accounting functions: AP, AR, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close support.
  • Experience working with enterprise-level ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, reconciliations).
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
