Payroll & Benefits Coordinator – Hybrid (Ottawa, ON)
Introduction
We’re assisting our client, a non-profit organization in the Ottawa area, in their search for a Payroll & Benefits Coordinator to join their team on a 2-month contract. This role is ideal for a payroll professional with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to step into a fast-paced environment with minimal ramp-up. The Payroll & Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll processing, benefits administration, and payroll-related reporting for a multi-site, unionized non-profit organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Process full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for approximately 150 employees across hourly (unionized) and salaried groups.
- Interpret and reconcile payroll items related to the collective agreement (overtime, premiums, etc.).
- Respond to payroll inquiries from employees professionally and promptly.
- Maintain payroll records and confidential documentation.
- Complete payroll reconciliations
- Support year-end activities, including T4s, T4As, pension adjustments, and checklists.
- Monitor attendance and leave records as required.
Qualifications
Must-Haves
- 2–3 years of full-cycle payroll experience.
- Strong understanding of payroll fundamentals
- Ability to work accurately, independently, and handle confidential information.
- Experience with a payroll software (Dayforce HCM preferred)
Nice-to-Haves
- Dayforce HCM experience (highly preferred).
- Experience in a unionized environment.
- PCP designation (asset, not required).
