Our client in the non-profit space is looking for a Compliance Officer to join their team in Toronto for a permanent role. This role is hybrid (1 day in office per week) and offers 3 weeks vacation, personal days and RRSP.
The Compliance Officer is responsible for monitoring, assessing, and enforcing compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves conducting inspections, reviewing registrant data, and addressing cases of non-compliance. In addition, the position provides guidance and support to regulated parties, ensuring they understand and can meet their obligations. The role requires strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on accuracy, professionalism, and service excellence.
Roles and Responsibilities
Review and verify data reported by registrants (including audits and verification reports) to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations, procedures, and guidance documents.
Conduct inspections—primarily desk-based, with occasional on-site visits—to identify and address potential compliance issues.
Carry out compliance actions in response to cases of non-compliance, ensuring appropriate follow-up and resolution.
Manage inspection and compliance cases, including documentation, tracking, and closure.
Implement compliance strategies based on a risk-based compliance framework.
Deliver high-quality service by resolving issues in a timely, accurate, and professional manner, ensuring positive interactions with registrants.
Assist in developing and providing support materials (e.g., FAQs, compliance bulletins, presentations) to help regulated parties understand requirements.
Provide training and guidance on systems and processes for registration and reporting.
Qualifications and Skills
- A degree or a diploma in a related field
- Minimum 2+ years conducting inspections and enforcement work and 4+ years in a regulatory/designated authority (DAA)
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written
