Salary: From 68,000 to 73,000
 

Our client, a dynamic independent boarding school in British Columbia, is seeking a Student Residence Manager for a full-time, permanent position. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a dedicated residential life team and shape a supportive, inclusive, and engaging community for students from across Canada and around the world.

Reporting to the Director of Student Life, the Student Residence Manager will oversee all aspects of residence operations, student programming, and staff leadership. The successful candidate will guide a team of live-in and part-time staff, ensuring the residence environment promotes safety, connection, personal growth, and academic success.

This role is ideal for a compassionate and energetic student-life professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about fostering meaningful relationships, leading teams, and enriching the student experience both inside and outside the classroom.

This is a full-time, on-site position that includes evening and weekend responsibilities as part of a rotating schedule. 

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of live-in and part-time residence staff through coaching, training, and ongoing development.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and inclusive team culture focused on student well-being and success.

  • Partner with other Student Life departments to ensure a cohesive and high-quality student experience.

Residential Operations & Oversight

  • Oversee day-to-day residence operations, ensuring a safe, structured, and welcoming environment.

  • Manage scheduling, student conduct, health protocols, off-campus activities, and residence logistics.

  • Oversee residence budgets and student travel planning, ensuring efficient use of resources.

Student Life & Engagement

  • Design and lead extracurricular and community-building programs that foster connection, leadership, and school spirit.

  • Collaborate with staff and students to create activities that enhance the cultural, recreational, and educational experience.

Student Support & Well-Being

  • Serve as a trusted mentor and advocate for students, offering guidance on social, emotional, and academic matters.

  • Work collaboratively with counsellors, advisors, and wellness staff to deliver holistic and proactive student care.

Crisis & Emergency Management

  • Lead emergency preparedness and response planning for residence staff and students.

  • Ensure staff are trained to manage crises calmly, effectively, and with compassion.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counselling, Student Affairs, or a related discipline.

  • 3–5 years of progressive experience in residential life, youth leadership, or student affairs, preferably within a boarding or postsecondary environment.

  • Strong leadership skills, with experience supervising staff and fostering a supportive team culture.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution abilities.

  • Demonstrated understanding of adolescent development and student support best practices.

  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and on-call rotations.

  • CPR/First Aid certification and valid Class 4 driver’s license (or equivalent) required.
