Schedule: Monday to Friday - 37.5 hours/week
On-Call: Every 4–6 weeks (overtime eligible)

We are currently seeking a Building Operator to join our client's team in the West End of Ottawa. This is a permanent, full-time role managing the daily operations and maintenance of mulitple commercial properties with tenants. You will be the primary on-site operator, ensuring the buildings operate safely, efficiently, and in line with company standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain all building systems, including HVAC, BAS, plumbing, electrical, and life safety systems.

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs as needed.

  • Respond to service requests and prioritize multiple calls efficiently across properties.

  • Coordinate and oversee contractors, vendors, and service providers.

  • Conduct monthly Health & Safety inspections and assist with annual fire alarm testing and life safety checks.

  • Use Angus Anywhere for work order management and ADP for timecards and expense tracking.

  • Manage security access systems, including programming and troubleshooting access cards.

  • Participate in on-call rotation every 4–6 weeks; paid overtime or standby compensation applies.

  • Support energy efficiency initiatives and contribute to ongoing operational improvements.

  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance, inspections, and tenant interactions.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Building Operator or similar facilities role.

  • Experience with standard HVAC systems and BAS platforms (exposure to multiple BAS systems is an asset).

  • Working knowledge of building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety.

  • Strong troubleshooting and prioritization skills; able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Tech-savvy: comfortable using work order systems (Angus), BAS interfaces, and digital tools (ADP, MS Office).

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle required (travel between sites).

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; approachable, collaborative, and open to feedback.

  • Demonstrated flexibility and solution-oriented mindset.

  • Basic knowledge of energy efficiency principles and occupational health & safety requirements preferred.
