Our team is partnering with our client, a dynamic and iconic destination in the heart of Toronto, to help them find an organized, detail-oriented, and motivated General Accounting Assistant to support their growing finance department.
About the Role:
As a General Accounting Assistant, you will play a key part in maintaining the financial health of our client’s operations. From processing accounts payable and reconciling daily revenue, to assisting with internal reporting and audits, this role ensures both accuracy and efficiency across the board.
This position reports directly to the Manager of Accounting and Financial Systems and is based in-office at a landmark downtown location.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable (50%)
- Process, verify, and enter invoices and payment vouchers into accounting systems
- Ensure compliance with contracts and internal approval policies
- Prepare weekly payment runs and electronic payment packages
- Manage AP email inbox and vendor inquiries
- Reconcile vendor statements and follow up on outstanding items
Revenue Management (30%)
- Review daily sales from multiple sources (e.g., retail, food & beverage, ticketing)
- Verify cash, debit, and credit transactions against POS reports
- Reconcile discounts, vouchers, comps, and group pricing
- Investigate discrepancies and flag suspicious transactions
- Reconcile and record gratuities, refunds, chargebacks, and due backs
Reporting & Month-End (20%)
- Prepare daily and monthly internal reports
- Assist with month-end entries and statistical reporting
- Collaborate with finance team to meet internal deadlines
- Support quarterly and year-end inventory counts
- Communicate with auditors and corporate finance teams as needed
What You’ll Need:
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (asset)
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience (required)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (advanced functions preferred)
- Familiarity with JD Edwards and Hubble (asset, not required)
- Exceptional attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Strong organizational and communication skills

- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays when needed
- Light physical effort (e.g., handling office supplies, standing/walking on occasion)
