Our client, a Canadian based Nonprofit oganization dedicated to supporting the environmental economy, is seeking a Benefits & Payroll Administrator to join their team for a 6 months contract with possibility of going permanent.
This is a remote position that can be done from anywhere in Canada with ability to work EST business hours. Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR and Compensation, this person will play a ciritcal role in delivering Payroll and Benefits services to team members across Canada.
Responsibilities:
Act as the primary contact for employees on all benefit-related matters, including health and dental plans, retirement savings programs, wellness initiatives, and other company offerings.
Oversee benefit enrollments, updates, and terminations, ensuring timely and accurate processing in both HRIS and provider platforms.
Communicate directly with insurance carriers and vendors to resolve issues, coordinate renewals, and manage service contracts.
Assist with the annual benefits renewal process, open enrollment logistics, and employee communications.
Review and audit benefit records to maintain accuracy, compliance, and consistency with plan guidelines and regulatory requirements.
Prepare and reconcile monthly benefits invoices, ensuring accurate accounting and payment procedures.
Help develop and deliver benefits education materials and sessions to improve employee awareness and participation.
Support the accurate processing of the semi-monthly payroll, including onboarding, pay adjustments, and employee departures.
Keep payroll information up to date and ensure seamless coordination between payroll and benefits systems.
Assist with payroll-related audits and compliance reviews to confirm adherence to company policies and federal/provincial standards.
Participate in HR compliance reviews and internal audits under the direction of the Senior Manager, HR & Compensation.
Qualifications:
In the process of persuing or holds a valid PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) and/or CEBS (Certified Employee Benefits Specialist) designation.
A minimum of 2 years of experience providing comprehensive benefits administration services.
At least one year of exposure to supporting payroll services.
Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now and BambooHR considered a strong asset.
Strong proficiency with the full Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
