Your Opportunity

Our transmission line engineering group has an opportunity for a Transmission Line Designer for one of our offices located in Burnaby, Calgary, or Waterloo. You will work on several power line projects under the guidance of a Senior Engineer/Designer in a dynamic, vibrant, and collaborative team environment. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow your career as a Transmission Line Engineer.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Job requirements will include assisting the transmission team with engineering and design services of power transmission line projects from conceptual design through construction.

  • Perform design and drafting following industry codes and client standards for overhead transmission projects.

  • Perform route selection for overhead power lines.

  • Conduct modeling and analysis of transmission line and structures in PLS-CADD utilizing LiDAR.

  • Support project team in development of design documentation, plans and reports for relevant project design elements.

  • Assist in the development of design deliverables through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.

  • Participate in site visits as required.

  • Attend project coordination meetings and communicate with internal team members and/or external consultants. "

"Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Familiarity with PLS-CADD software.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or MicroStation.

  • Experience with GIS mapping is an asset.

  • Familiar with North American overhead power line industry standards.

  • Experience developing design drawings for transmission or distribution projects.

  • Sound understanding of project management systems.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • Strong interest in developing new skills and career advancement.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to effectively and proactively communicate project issues with project teams and clients.

  • Organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

Education and Experience

  • Structural, Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree from a recognized university.

  • Registered with the relevant Engineering Provincial Association

  • Minimum 3 years of overhead power line (transmission or distribution) design and engineering experience within utilities, EPC or consulting organizations.

Pay Range:

• Locations in Lower Mainland - BC - Min Salary $ 76,500.00 - Max Salary $ 110,900.00

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
